Description
Google Translate will provide a temporary translation of your entire wikidot site in multiple languages.
Code
Go to http://translate.google.com/translate_tools and copy the code which looks like this:
<script src="http://www.gmodules.com/ig/ifr?url=http://www.google.com/ig/modules/translatemypage.xml&up_source_language=en&w=160&h=60&title=&border=&output=js"></script>
Then put this code into your wiki page inside [[embed]]..[[/embed]] tags. This will add a widget to you page will enable the user to select the language to translate the site into.
In action
An example of this in action is at http://tanglewoodhouse.wikidot.com/translate as shown below:

Can anyone show me an example of a page translation widget in the sidebar actually working please? I need this because my website is aimed at a multi-national community but apart from English speakers there are only a handful of users in each of ten or so countries. The Babelfish widget used to work but no longer since it was taken over by Microsoft and the Google gadget just starts an endless loop within each page.
I pasted the code you gave me into this page and got this code given to me:
[[embed]]
<iframe class="" style="" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="300px" align="" scrolling="auto" src="http://snippets.wdfiles.com/local--code/code:iframe-embed#%3Cdiv%20id%3D%22google_translate_element%22%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cscript%3E%20function%20googleTranslateElementInit%28%29%20%7B%20%20%20new%20google.translate.TranslateElement%28%7B%20%20%20%20%20pageLanguage%3A%20%27en%27%20%20%20%7D%2C%20%27google_translate_element%27%29%3B%20%7D%20%3C/script%3E%3Cscript%20src%3D%22http%3A//translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js%3Fcb%3DgoogleTranslateElementInit%22%3E%3C/script%3E"></iframe>

Try that in your page ;-)

Thanks for the suggestion :)
tried that earlier today.
I ultimately found that iFrame is an isolated window, and has no direct link with the site as a whole.
So when you tell it to translate, it attempts to translate only what is in the iFrame, which is nothing
I just fought for several hours to figure a way to utilize Google's new Translate code as seen on the Google aformentioned page……To no avail
Apparently this knowledge is beyond me as I am a fledgling to the wikidot arena.
If someone could see fit to update this short tut with current information….I would be deeply thankful
The new look would be much more aesthetic to my page outline than the old "Boxy Gadget" Look
Thanks in advance
Can you please post the code that you were given by Google?

As you request :)
At the following address:
http://translate.google.com/translate_tools
that's because its private. the translator cant read the page.
Hi,
has anyone used translation with private wikidots? I tried all, but it didn't work with my private wikidot.
Hope someone might help me.
Thanks
Roland
Perfect! Why should we translate the handbook anymore?…
