Description
Chat in the wikidot chatroom with other users, gurus and the developers. This can be done using Mibbit, a web-based irc (internet relay chat) widget that can be embedded in a page on your wiki. The advantage of Mibbit is that it doesn't require you to download an irc client to your desktop/laptop, unlike most irc software.
Sign Up to Mibbit
Go to http://www.mibbit.com and click on "Create a Widget".
On the next screen add a username and password and click on "Register". A new screen will open with tabs where you can enter your email address and website details and also change the preferences for your widget. But at this stage you really just need to go to the Widget Preview tab and enter the wikidot server: irc.freenode.org and the channel: #wikidot
You will then see a link further down the page which is the link for your widget. Copy this link.
Add the widget to your wiki page
You add the link you copied to your page inside an iframe and then add width and height, scrolling and border properties to the iframe. A width of 600px and a height of 380px seems to work well.
[[iframe http://widget.mibbit.com/?settings=31de7ec2d8f33d0d051c85e549a49b9f&server=irc.freenode.org&channel=%23wikidot width="600" height="380" scrolling="no" frameborder="0"]]
Once it is in your page, you will see a box asking you for a nickname. If you don't want to use the obscure one provided just enter an alternative which could be your real name or the username you use at wikidot. Then click on the "Connect" button and you will enter the chatroom.
