I can successfully embed the picasa slideshow copied and pasted from this snippet. However, when trying to paste the code for my own slideshow, I get an error message.
I have painstakingly compared the code, and can't tell that anything is different between the two other than customizable elements such as the size of the frame and the address of the album being pointed to. (And changing these doesn't seem to help.)
Here's what's happening:
returns:
However, if I paste from above:
Is this a problem related to my google account? Or is there something else that is going wrong?
Does anyone have any insight on this? Have other people encountered this problem?
I had the exact same problem.
tcg
Exactly the same problem for me
I tried to change the embedding code but.. I cannot even get the code for my album from picasaweb page. There's only a 'slideshow' button but it only starts the slideshow. And no 'Embed Slideshow' button. Any ideas how to generate the embed code?
It looks like Google is in the process of removing this functionality.
They recently redid Picasaweb, and they took the "Embed Slideshow" button off. If you want to mess with it anyway, you can click on the little picasa icon in the corner of the above slideshow, and click "get your own"—at which point it will give you the code for any of your albums (provided you are logged into google, and you have albums.)
On the plus side, however, Picasa 3 makes YouTube movies out of slideshows quite easily. It makes a reasonable alternative!
Thanks for that hint. However, it seems to be turned off now - it gives me 404 -not found Error. I found a web page that used the RSS code to generate the embed link but with no success as well.
I'm still looking for a solution to show my picasa pictures through a nice gallery on wikidot page - similar to simpleviewer, with customizable image size. Anyone tried something similar?
There don't seem to be many posts here in a while. Picasa has gone on and done more changing and even tries to call itself Google+
I have read all posted here. I have dorked around with the syntax a bit. I am having the same problems listed below: "no match for embedded content".
I did try changing the .com for .pl - No joy.
thoughts?
DOOH! I left the embed-bit in..
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" width="400" height="267" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.com&hl=en_US&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=https%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2F115225384747108288615%2Falbumid%2F5818998458573265345%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_US" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed>
It looks like wikidot currently only accepts embeds from
http://picasaweb.google.pl but not from from http://picasaweb.google.com !
Thank you guys for reporting this problem. This is FIXED now.

Yes it works! And I finally I generated the embed code as well. This tool: http://www.tools4noobs.com/picasa/ generates the code from RSS code.
I'm still having problems - I generated the code using the RSS link from my album on tools4noobs, but I get the error "Sorry, no match for the embedded content." — any ideas?
I still have that problem, too. I can see the slideshow on tools4noobs.com, but not @ wikidot.com. It`s said: "Sorry, no match for the embedded content."
Here is my source code:
I take your code and re-arrange it a little ( and deleted some characters! ) like the other above:

Can you post here the LINK to your picasa web album?

The link is http://picasaweb.google.de/DerGecko1980/Bierkultour2008 which I want to be shown on http://karlranseier.wikidot.com/2008
I tried to copy the source code and put the RSS-Feed-address after the "feed=". Then I changed all other addresses to google.de instead of .com ; Then I replaced all / by %2F and the : by %3A. But still "sorry, no match for the embedded code". I tried it again wit .com, because maybe there was a mistake with %3A.
I thought the arrangement of the "content-tags" does not matter?
edit: I changed the complete last part after the album id to %3Fkind%3Dphoto%26alt%3Drss, but still it`s not working
edit 2: now it looks like
edit 3: macromedia.com instead of macromedia.de !!! So it works now.
Trying to embed my picasaweb images, but doesn't want to work. I also get "Sorry, no match for the embedded content." error. I've gotten around it but cutting and pasting the http:// portion of the <img src="http:…">, but I'm looking for more convenient solutions.
Would you give us the code for test?

Does this code work for you? All I see is white.

Everything suggested above did not work for me until I tried putting the Picassa 'Embedded Slideshow' code within HTML Blocks and then it worked fine.
This Picassa 'Embedded Slideshow' code can be found as a button on your Picassa Online Photo Sharing site
INSTRUCTIONS WHERE TO FIND YOUR PICASSA SLIDESHOW EMBED CODE
Go to your Picassa Photo Album that you want to run as a slide show and click on it to enter the folder.
You should now see the images within the folder and on the right hand side of the panel you should see a symbol of a 'chain link' with the words "Links to this Album". Click on these words.
You should then see a link lower down under that that says 'Embedded Slideshow'. Click on these words
Another window should now open up which has the embed code that needs to be copied and placed (this has a Yellow coloured page screen behind it) within the HTML Blocks, as per my example below:
Here's my example…
[[html]]
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" width="288" height="192" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.com&hl=en_US&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=https%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fye.olde.networks%2Falbumid%2F5495632193765049153%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_US" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed>
[[/html]]
Now save your wiki dot page and hopefully you'll see your slide show when your page refreshes.
Hope this solves your Picassa problem like it did for me.
Perhaps all the solutions above mine which are Pre December 2009 are now redundant and that's why I couldbnt get them to work?
I also read somewhere on wiki dot that the 'HTML Block' solution came out in March 2010 and that this superseded some of the code suggestions concerning how to embed images on wikidot
Cheers
Ye Olde
PS: Make sure you set your Picassa folder to 'PUBLIC' as well
Yep, HTML tags now replace the old embed syntax, as it supports everything that embed did and much more.

Thank you SO much! This worked perfectly for my slideshows.
Take that, Google!
I have no problem embedding the slide show. However, it does not show up at the top of the page where I want it, but further down the page - leaving a bunch of blank space - see
http://bio305lab.wikidot.com/appendix:pour-gel
I am thinking there is a problem with alignment and the nav:side but I don't know how to fix it (I tried reducing the slideshow size but it did not help).
Lauri
If you reduce the width of the iframe container created by the [[html]] block to 98% or less, the slideshow will move up the page.
I didn't fully test this on different browser window sizes and only looked at it with Firefox. At 99% the iframe was still pushed below the end of nav:side on my screen.
The other thing that will fix it (and is probably a better solution) is to set padding-right: 0; for the side-bar. The base css sets padding to 1em all around the side-bar. That padding plus the 100% width of the iframe generated by the [[html]] block is what's pushing your slideshow below the side-bar.
You should play with both of these to see how it impacts the look of your site for other content and decide which solution is best for you..
